Oh Oh Oh - Pick Me!!!

Today during music class, I was letting kids read four beat patterns of "ta" and "ti-ti." I did not have enough for everyone to have a turn, and weirdly enough, they were really into it.

Andrew kept yelling, "Oh Oh Oh - Pick Me!!!" I said, "Andrew, I can't pick you because you're not waiting patiently and you keep calling out."

Tonight, I feel just like Andrew. Some wonderful woman in Virginia is going to be looking at who knows how many profiles on Friday..."Oh Oh Oh - Pick Me!!!"

16 and Pregnant

If you had any questions about this whole adoption thing, I think that the MTV's "16 and Pregnant" did a really great job of portraying an open adoption... in fact they are even featuring the same adoption agency we are using!!

Check it out!!!

Making Room

Here are the ways we have been making room for baby...

1. In April, when it was time for a new car, we got an SUV to make room for a car seat and strollers to be hauled simultaneously with various musical instruments.

2. In June we moved out of the back room and the room that went from music room to master bedroom has been made into a room for baby. Still have a lot of work to do on that one, but it is looking so good! By the way, Joan totally rocked out on the recovering of the rocker from Sarah.

3. In October, I cleaned out the cabinet by the sink and made room for bottles.

4. In December, I stole Wendi's dresser out of her room to make room for diapers and a changing table in the nursery.

5. Tonight, Herb mounted our new flat screen (a black Friday purchase) in our bedroom and now there is a beautiful nook by the bay windows, and we have made perfect room for a little bassinet or perfect view of the TV of course too (going to start the kid young).

6. In the last 2 weeks, I've turned down at least 3 new students for piano and clarinet lessons to make room in my schedule for a baby. Hope that doesn't come back to shoot me in the foot. I have been trying to not take new students because I don't want to stop them right away (is this wishful thinking?).

We have physically, mentally, and emotionally made room...does that mean we are ready?

No Changes

Well, we've been "active" for a month. We have had 2 possible situations, but were only shown to one (our choice).

Thank you for are your prayers. They are definitely being answered in the way of peace and patience for us, and who knows how else they are being answered in ways I don't yet know!

God is good.

Waiting for Dessert

I've been thinking a lot about how being a mom will teach me more about my relationship with God, and His love for me. Right now, I have so much assurance and peace about Him knowing exactly where our baby is right now and when we will be ready for it. So, who am I to rush this waiting period along?

Although sometimes, "not yet," is the worst message I want to hear...whether it be from my parents, my boss, my husband, or my God. Yet, right now, I keep thinking about a little kid who wants to eat ice cream before dinner. Momma won't let him, not because she's mean, but because she wants him to be healthy and appreciate the ice cream after a nutritious meal.

God has given me every healthy dream I had for my life, a five course meal unlike any other, if you will.... a truly amazing husband, a wonderful career, so many friends that I don't have time for them, and a family who is more supportive than I dreamed of, and the promise of eternity. The other day I was feeling so blessed that I literally thought for a minute, "It is okay if nothing changes. I would be happy with my life if this is it."

And then I remembered how incredibly sweet dessert is going to be. Dessert - so unnecessary, but so the perfect way to round out a wonderful meal. But, eaten too soon, and the whole meal will not be enjoyed or appreciated.

So God, when you're ready to serve it, my dessert plate is ready and waiting.

And I can't wait to dig in.
